Excerpt: “Old holiday lights can now be recycled through a program called Recycle Your Holidays being sponsored by the Canby Development Achievement Center (DAC) and the Recycling Association of Minnesota (RAM). “With everyone doing their spring cleaning we thought it would be a good time to get some of those holiday lights,” said Pam Weckwerth, executive director of the Canby Development Achievement Center…The Recycle Your Holiday program started out in other Minnesota cities last year with the goal of collecting 50,000 pounds of lights. Joel Haskard, a coordinator with the Clean Energy Resource Teams, said at the end of the year they exceeded their estimates and collected more than 100,000 pounds of lights. The Recycling Association of Minnesota is brining the program to smaller communities as a result of that success, he said.”
