Excerpt: In Minnesota, learning how to be more energy-efficient is a high priority for many governmental leaders. Equally important, however, is for residents to find new ways to be energy-efficient in their homes.

Following the meeting of the Brown County Congress, Jeff Vetsch of Southwest and West Central Clean Energy Resource Team (CERT) led a workshop for interested individuals on how to conserve energy at home.

In Brown County alone, $20 million is spent each year for residential electricity. Because many electrical suppliers are from outside Brown County, this is $20 million sent out of the county each year that could have boosted the local economy.
