Excerpt: OWATONNA — As cooler weather approaches, Owatonna residents have a unique opportunity to save big on their upcoming heating bills.

Owatonna Public Utilities offers their customers in Owatonna a rebate for $25 off a new programmable thermostat. In addition, through this November the Clean Energy Resource Teams (CERTs) and Honeywell are offering an exclusive rebate for up to another $10 back on a new Do-It-Yourself programmable thermostat.

Visit http://thermostat.mncerts.org to download and print both rebates. You can go to any retail store near you that sells Honeywell programmable thermostats to take advantage of these rebates. Remember to ask the cashier for two copies of your receipt, one to send in for each rebate. You will also need to make a copy of your proof of purchase (UPC code) to send to Honeywell, and send the original to Owatonna Public Utilities.

“Combining the two rebates, that’s up to $35 off a new programmable thermostat, bringing a $50 model down to only $15,” says Joel Haskard, CERTs Coordinator. “When you consider that the average resident in Owatonna who installs a programmable thermostat could save up to $200 a year, this is one of the smartest investments around.”
