Eco Experience at the MN State Fair

Volunteer at the State Fair for solar or wind energy as part of Eco Experience

The Home Energy Exhibit at the Minnesota State Fair’s Eco Experience building will feature several displays dedicated to solar and wind energy.

The Eco Experience Building will be open daily from 9am-9pm during the fair in the Progress Center on Randall Avenue, and volunteers are needed for each day!

The Minnesota Renewable Energy Society, responsible for the solar energy area, as well as Windustry, which runs the wind energy section, are looking for volunteers who are interested in chatting with attendees about clean energy and providing them with useful resources. See below for info on each opportunity!

Solar Volunteering

Solar enthusiasts needed! All solar enthusiasts — expert or novice — are invited to volunteer as Solar Area Educators with the Minnesota Renewable Energy Society (MRES) and the Connect To The Sun exhibit in The Eco Experience building at the Minnesota State Fair. We need volunteers (18+ years) to staff the Solar Area of The Eco Experience. Volunteers receive free State Fair admission, solar training, and an Eco Experience t-shirt. There is one pre-fair training date.

Wind Volunteering

With new displays, the Wind Energy Center will be more interactive and informative as ever. Volunteers play a vital role in the Wind Energy Center’s success. Serving as renewable energy ambassadors, volunteers help fairgoers interact with various activities and answer questions about wind energy. Volunteers receive a free fair ticket and locally designed Wind Energy Center t-shirt. Volunteers are also encouraged to attend a training session to get a sneak peek at our new displays, review the wind energy basics, and meet fellow volunteers!
