Patrick Mathwig, New Metro CERT Intern

Welcome Patrick Mathwig, Metro CERT Intern

Patrick started volunteering for Metro CERT in March of 2014, assisting with planning workshops and events as well as keeping our communications databases up to date. He is looking forward to becoming even more involved with the organization as an intern.

Patrick graduated from St. John’s University in 2011 with a BA in Natural Science. After graduating, he moved to South Korea for two years to teach English and explore its distinctly unique culture. While in Korea he spent much of his free time hiking, traveling and learning to make many different kinds of Korean foods through friendships that are sure to last a lifetime. He was disappointed to be without a garden for the two years, but plans to make up for it now. This year he plans to grow the ingredients to make his own Kimchi, Korea’s signature dish.

Patrick returned stateside in the spring of 2013 to gain experience with energy and environmental outreach and policy, something he has been interested in since high school. He realized during his time abroad that he was more than just interested in the industry, but passionate enough to fuel a life-long career in the industry. He feels strongly that clean, inexpensive and safe energy is key to a healthy environment and stable economy. Patrick is more than excited to be interning with Metro CERT to network and learn more about the clean energy industry and clean energy project promotion.
