About the video: The city of Austin is going green. The Austin City Council voted unanimously Monday to join the Minnesota GreenStep Cities program. The program supports and recognizes cities making an effort to participate in sustainable development practices. City Administrator Jim Hurm said it’s something they’ve been wanting to do for awhile. “The mayor did sign a proclamation several years ago and the city council feels its time now to step up to the plate and actually become an active member of the Green Step program,” said Hurm. The council will now begin to accept applications for people in the community who want to be on the GreenStep committee. Learn more about GreenStep Cities at http://www.mngreenstep.org.
