As part of a series called Farming the Wind: Identifying Best Bet Locations for Wind Turbines maps were produced for each county in West Central Minnesota. Rules of thumb include: High elevation; Relatively unobstructed fetch conditions; Close proximity to existing transmission lines and substations to facilitate connection to grid OR proximity to large existing load; and Existing transmission lines have capacity for additional power. Maps created as a partnership among West Central CERT, UMN WCROC, USDA ARS.
