CERTs Monthly Updates

Hello CERT members and friends,

and welcome to the June 2008 edition

of our Monthly Update!

Included in this update:

1. Regional Highlights & Activities
2. Link of the Month
3. Action Alert
4. Upcoming Events

Proposals & Steering Committees:
June was a wild and wooly month for the CERTs program. First, we are happy to announce the 38 projects across the state funded through the Request for Proposal process. There were 91 proposals submitted, and it is inspiring to see all the great clean energy projects that are moving forward in communities across the state. We would like to especially thank our steering committee members who put in long hours reviewing proposals and were forced to make a lot of difficult decisions. Beginning in the next few weeks we will have another round of steering committee elections, and if you are interested in helping in the choice of meeting topics and the ranking of regional proposals (as well as working along with some great community-minded folks) we would encourage you to throw your name in the hat.

Regional CERT Meetings & Presentations:
There were four team meetings held across the state in June, with around 200 attendees total. The Northeast meeting focused on carbon credits and cap & trade systems (see notes & presentations), and three in the NW, SE, and WC regions focusing on wind development and various options that land owners need to be aware of (see presentations). Staff also presented the CERTs program to around 40 people at the Midwest Renewable Energy Association (MREA) fair in Custer, Wisconsin.

Happy July 4th,
Lissa, Netty, Joel, Carl & Diana
