The Clean Energy Resource Teams (CERTs) program is a statewide effort in Minnesota to connect people with the technical resources they need to identify and implement community-scale energy efficiency and clean energy projects. For multiple reasons—slowing global warming, energy security, dwindling supplies of fossil fuels, saving money—our society is undergoing a fundamental transformation of our energy system away from fossil fuels and toward energy efficiency and renewable energy. There is a unique opportunity for communities to get involved in shaping their own energy future. CERTs was created to help provide the tools to make this happen.
The Metro CERTs Network is one of seven CERTs regions in Minnesota, and is coordinated by the Green Institute. The Metro region has specifically been set up as a network, in order to help encourage and support the many existing local clean energy efforts. The Metro CERTs Network has the following goals:
