Salary Range:

  • Planner Senior State: $25.25 - $37.02 / hourly;  $52,722 - $77,298 / annually
  • Planner Principal State: $28.96 - $42.67 / hourly;  $60,468 - $89,095 / annually
  • Planner Principal State: $25.25 - $37.02 / hourly; $52,722 - $77,298 / annually

Primary Duties

This vacancy is being posted at 3 job class levels: Planner Senior State, Planner Principal State, and Planner Director State. Final job class will be determined based on successful applicant’s qualifications.

Hybrid work environment with potential for significant telework.

The Energy Environmental Review and Analysis unit positions exist to direct all aspects of environmental review and permitting of high voltage transmission lines, large electric power generating plants, large wind energy conversions systems, and pipelines in order to ensure compliance with state statutes and rules. This position may be filled at three different levels with the Senior level assisting with components of environmental review and public engagement, the Principal level taking on smaller projects and components of larger projects, and the Director level managing all aspects of larger projects.

Experience

Planner Senior State: Bachelor’s Degree involving major study in environmental, physical, or one of the natural sciences, environmental planning, or related AND 2 years professional experience in environmental review, permitting, monitoring, or planning.

OR

Advanced degree involving major study in environmental, physical, or one of the natural sciences, environmental planning, or related AND 1 year professional experience in environmental review, permitting, monitoring, or planning.

OR 

Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) 
Strong organizational skills

Planner Principal State: Bachelor’s Degree involving major study in environmental, physical, or one of the natural sciences, environmental planning, or related AND 4 years professional experience in environmental review, permitting, monitoring, or planning.

OR

Advanced degree involving major study in environmental, physical, or one of the natural sciences, environmental planning, or related AND 3 years professional experience in environmental review, permitting, monitoring, or planning.

OR 

Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Planner Director State: Bachelor’s Degree involving major study in environmental, physical, or one of the natural sciences, environmental planning, or related AND 5 years professional experience in environmental review, permitting, monitoring, or planning.

OR

Advanced degree involving major study in environmental, physical, or one of the natural sciences, environmental planning, or related AND 4 years professional experience in environmental review, permitting, monitoring, or planning.

OR 

Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Strong organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in planning and conducting public meeting. Demonstrated ability to work in a public setting.  
Experience presenting technical information. The ability to speak and write clearly for both technical and non-technical audiences.
Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
Knowledge of the potential human and environment impacts of large energy infrastructure projects, e.g., pipelines, transmission lines, wind farms, solar farms.

Physical Requirements
Requires occasional moving of articles such as boxes, accounting records, laptop computer, and portable printer.
