Tri-County Action Program, Inc. (Tri-CAP) is the federally designated community action program for Benton, Sherburne and Stearns counties in central Minnesota. Programs administered by the agency may serve one or more counties and in several cases, go beyond the boundaries of the three counties.

Tri-CAP has been fulfilling its mission to invest in people and build the communities that comprise our tri-county region of central Minnesota. Through advocacy, outreach, education and assistance, the Tri-CAP team has helped thousands of low- and moderate-income residents achieve and maintain social and economic self-sufficiency and in turn, strengthen the very fabric of our communities.

The mission of Tri-CAP is to enhance and expand opportunities for the economic and social well-being of our residents and our communities.

Salary

Starting wage is $16.55 per hour and includes a comprehensive training program and an excellent benefits package

Hours

Monday-Friday, 8:00-4:30 p.m.  Some after hours/weekends may be scheduled on an as-needed basis and will be communicated prior. Some flexibility may also be available upon request.

Primary Duties

*Conduct home visits to perform energy assessments and educate the customer in ways to reduce their energy burden.
*Review household needs/ budget- provide appropriate referrals for financial literacy and other programs within Tri-CAP and in the community, including appliance replacement programs to reduce energy burden.
*Conduct outreach and education activities, including presentations for businesses, agencies and other community partners.
*Participate in data collection and program evaluation activities.
*Establish and maintain effective referral network and community linkages.

Experience

*High school equivalency and minimum of two years related work experience OR combination of three years post-secondary education and related work experience in human services and/or residential energy conservation.
*Excellent public relation and communication skills; keep strict confidentiality of participant and agency data.
*Strong computer and organizational skills required.
*Knowledge and experience in providing energy conservation advice and budgeting, preferred.
*Must have ability to pass Xcel Energy security clearance.
*Bi-lingual (Spanish or Somali) preferred.
*Ability to travel in four-county service area
