Primary Duties: 

As a Biologist located out of our Minneapolis office you will have the opportunity to play a role in all stages of siting and permitting projects in the industrial and energy sectors, including oil & gas pipelines, renewable energy, electric transmission lines and power plant facilities. Working with other members of the team you will participate on field teams supporting projects related to the development and operation of energy projects located throughout the mid-continental US and Canada. In this position, you will serve as a key team member working with scientists, engineers, project managers, and other project staff. Additional information on our Biologist position:
• Specialized experience with identifying and managing project impacts to avian species endemic to the mid-western US and Canada.
• Experience in assessing the impacts of wind farms/turbines and other related transmission infrastructure to a variety of animal species.
• Experience working directly with clients and in client offices. Travel to client/project locations to lead and perform biological field surveys, with an emphasis on threatened and endangered species surveys, wetlands delineation, and data collection.
• Experience leading environmental impact evaluations, siting reports, and environmental permit applications, including field surveys and reporting, resource and impact evaluations, preparation of NEPA analysis and documentation, Section 7 ESA Consultation.
• Experience performing various biological field surveys for planning and construction.


• Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Ecology, or similar discipline
• 7-10 years environmental consulting experience.
• Experience with regulatory environment and permitting processes in one or more mid-western US states.
• Experience leading large teams of biological monitors for construction compliance projects.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to perform work in rugged terrain and unfavorable weather.
Additional desired requirements:
• Experience leading/conducting wetland delineations in accordance with USACE 1987 Wetland Delineation Manual.
• Established relationships with local, state, and federal permitting agencies.
• Possession of a state (Scientific Collecting/MOU) or federal permit [10(a)1(A)] for listed species.
• Experience using GPS technology, Arc GIS, conducting wetland delineation surveys, protected species surveys, and habitat assessments.
