WSB is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our group in one of our Minneapolis/St. Paul MN, Denver CO, or Austin TX locations. The Electrical Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the reliable, safe and efficient design and operation of solar garden and utility scale solar facilities and other renewable projects.

WSB is a professional consulting and design firm with offices in Minnesota, North Dakota, Texas, and Colorado. WSB has over 400 staff members who provide diverse engineering, planning, environmental, and construction services to clients in the government, energy, and commercial markets. Our services also include GIS, landscape architecture, right of way, and surveying.

Primary Duties: 

You will provide project management and technical expertise to support the efforts of renewable developers to ensure they select the best technologies and build reliable and efficient projects; develop electrical facility designs of solar projects in close coordination with the civil engineer; review facility operating data and resolve problems that are affecting facility output; take a lead role in the negotiation of technical aspects of the grid connection agreements with network operators; provide electrical engineering advice during contract negotiation to ensure that the requirements of the grid connection are understood allowing clients to minimize exposure to grid code and other technical and commercial risks arising from grid connection requirements; and maintain knowledge of renewable technologies commercially available and provide recommendations on merits of different manufacturers products.

Experience: 

You will have 5+ years electrical engineering experience in energy-related technologies and applications including power generation, interconnection, transmission and distribution systems; experience in various power generation, transmission, distribution, and equipment selection; a Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; a Professional Engineer license in Minnesota (and additional states preferred) or the ability to obtain the license within six months; a valid driver s license and a clean driving record. Our preferred candidate will have 10+ years of applicable experience including experience in the design, evaluation and operation of photovoltaic solar technologies and facilities.
