Renewable Civil Engineer Technician

Ulteig is excited to announce that we are seeking qualified candidates for the role of Engineering Technician to support our Civil Renewable Energy Group in our St. Paul, MN office. They will engage with the civil design teams and our clients to provide innovative, forward thinking design solutions to the wind and solar industries. The Engineering Technician is responsible for providing support to the engineers during the planning, design, and construction of engineering projects. They may act as a task leader when needed. Successful candidates must be able to visualize and portray complex design features, while handling multiple projects. They will also provide technical drafting support, plot data from direction, and compile engineering data from drawings or field notes. Must be able to regularly perform arithmetic computations using specified formulas and be able to guide or be assisted by less experienced technicians.

Primary Duties: 
  • Will work with the project engineer to complete detailed design solutions on wind and solar projects
  • Applies industry design standards on renewable projects and coaches others on the team
  • Utilize prior design experience to proactively address potential design issues
  • Help the team develop and refine design and drafting standards for projects
  • Practices efficiency engineering as it pertains to design selection.
  • Works closely with other engineering technicians and experienced engineers.
  • Majority of the work will be in the office, with up to 10% of the time in the field.
  • May participate in marketing, sales and business development activities within assigned market.
  • Demonstrates a wide degree of creativity and latitude.
  • Effectively communicates and interacts with clients to ensure we are meeting their needs.
  • Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
Experience: 
  • Associate or technical degree in Engineering Technology or equivalent required
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience to an engineering technician role preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency and working knowledge of AutoCAD and Civil 3D is required.
  • Experience working with renewable contractors or developers on design projects
  • Proven experience in Microsoft Software Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, Project)
  • Excellent presentation and verbal/written communications skills
  • Must be analytical, self-motivated, and possess the ability to work in high-pressure situations while maintaining a positive, enthusiastic attitude
  • Must have authorization to work permanently in the US
