These are the rebate programs CERTs knows of that are offered by Minnesota utilities for installing LED canopy lighting at your service station. They are in alphabetical order, so scroll down to see what, if any, rebates you can get from your utility for purchasing and installing new LED lighting.

You must be an electric customer or member of the utility to take advantage of the rebates offered by any given utility listed here.

Adrian Public Utilities

Rebate for $300 per kW saved
Eligibility: All projects must be pre-approved and receive a written Notice to Proceed to qualify for an incentive. Equipment ordered, purchased or installed prior to approval will not qualify for incentives unless special exception is made by The Utility, in its discretion. Equipment must operate a minimum of 1500 hours annually to be eligible. All LED lighting products must be DesignLights Consortium approved. All installations must be permanent.

Connexus Energy

Rebate for $60 to $130 per fixture
Eligibility: Rebate amount is based on LED wattage. LED wattage must be 3 to 6 times less than existing HID wattage. Installation must be complete before rebate funds will be issued. Members and vendors must submit itemized equipment invoices, along with rebate application and worksheet, to the cooperative. To ensure that the equipment installed meets the cooperative’s performance standards, these invoices must itemize labor charges, quantity and price of the equipment installed, as well as information regarding the manufacturer and model numbers for all lamps, drivers and fixtures included in the rebate. The cooperative reserves the right to conduct random inspections of installations. The member is responsible for checking with the cooperative to determine whether funding is available and to verify program parameters. Rebate must comply with all program specific rules and qualifications. The maximum rebate amount shall be the lesser of 50 percent of the project cost or $100,000. Qualifying members must apply for 2014 rebates no later than November 14, 2014.

Otter Tail Power

Rebate for $600 per kW saved
Eligibility: Rebate applications must be submitted prior to December 31. Otter Tail Power does not accept responsibility for light level output. All lighting modifications and warranties are between the vendor and the owner. We reserve the right to inspect any installation and to meter your installation up to 18 months after installation is complete to aid us in tracking the efficiency of the installation. Customers can choose between financing or a rebate, where available. Minimum rebate is $20. Rebate will not exceed 75 percent of total lighting labor and material cost. No rebate will exceed 75 percent of annual electric service bill. Rebates for sports lighting installations will not exceed estimated annual energy cost for the lighting system. All rebates greater than $4,500 must be preapproved. Preapproval will ensure retrofit lighting qualifies for a rebate.

Xcel Energy

Rebate for $200 per fixture or up to $400 per kW saved
Key Resource: The One-Stop Efficiency Shop offers special rebate levels and services for small and mid-sized facilities with an electric demand of 400 kW or less. Call the One-Stop Efficiency Shop, operated on Xcel Energy’s behalf by the Center for Energy and Environment, at 612-518-3245 to verify your eligibility and energy-savings potential.
Eligibility: Replace HID systems with LED systems that use 3 to 6 times less energy. Equipment must be hardwired and rated for exterior use.
