Natural Resource Apprentice(s)

Hours: Average 40-50 hrs/week April-October with potential for longer term and year-round employment
Description: Natural Resource Services, Inc. (NRS) is looking for qualified candidates to fill our Natural Resource Apprentice positions. These individuals will assist our project managers and ecologists on duties associated with prairie, woodland and wetland installations and maintenance. Projects are located primarily in Minnesota with occasional work occurring in surrounding states.
Duties and tasks could include: Operation of zero turn mowers, light utility vehicles, small power equipment and tractors with tillage/seeding equipment. General labor including hand seeding, raking, planting and weed whipping. Project planning, assessment and general client communications. Target specific herbicide application will also be required on some projects.
Qualifications: Degree or education in biology, ecology, forestry, botany, natural resources management or related field. Must have knowledge of, or a strong interest in, native plant communities. Additional skills/abilities required: mechanical skills, a good/insurable driving record, excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Ability to work unsupervised and follow directions, ability to read and interpret project specifications and site plans.
