Primary Duties

The Project Developer will work with our experienced Community Solar Development Team, engineers, and external stakeholders to lead the timely and successful completion of Solar project origination and project development.

  • Lead the origination and development of community scale solar projects in the assigned market, typically 1-5 MW (AC) per site.
  • Generate new opportunities and qualify new projects with established feasibility due diligence to eliminate early-stage fatal flaws.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders including land owners, utilities, and AHJs
  • Support the project permitting process, including managing internal and external processes and stakeholder relations.
  • Establish deep knowledge of interconnection protocols with local utilities; determine appropriate points of interconnection with electric utility grid resources and confirm interconnection feasibility.
  • Support financial modeling of projects with the goal of achieving a comprehensive and realistic financial expectation;
  • Collaborate with cross functional team members to overcome problem areas/features of selected sites.
  • Keep senior management apprised on any changes in solar programs, or new opportunities, in assigned territory;
  • Produce and manage Budget and Schedule and report on deliverables and timelines regularly
  • Establish knowledge in local solar development rules, including solar legislation, tax issues and solar program guidelines.
  • Represent Emeren as a premier solar developer within assigned territory.
Experience
  • 3 – 5 years solar industry or relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of /Experience with Minnesota Xcel Community Solar
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Knowledge of project management and process implementation.
  • Experience in solar design and/or financing a plus.
  • Renewable energy and/or real estate knowledge preferred.
  • Creative, entrepreneurial approach to market opportunities.
  • Strong Networking and Negotiation ability.
  • Self-starter with team-work focus.
  • Current Market/States we are actively recruiting for: Minnesota, Ohio, Wisconsin, and Illinois.
  • Position will be remote with regular travel within Market State.
