Salary Range: $28.96 - $42.67/hourly; $60,468 - $89,094/annually

Primary Duties

The Minnesota Department of Commerce is seeking a communicator skilled in events and social media to lead public engagement to connect Commerce’s work in energy, finance, insurance and other services to Minnesota communities. This position is responsible to strategically plan and coordinate public engagement with consumers and communities across Minnesota, through public-facing events, social media, and other creative activities.

Experience

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in marketing, public relations, or related communications field AND 3 years’ experience working in marketing and events.

OR  

Advanced Degree in marketing, public relations, or related communications field AND 2 years’ experience working in marketing and events. 

OR

Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Applicants who meet the above education and experience requirements will be further evaluated based on the following:

  • Experience in event planning, organizing and implementation
  • Demonstrated ability to tailor events or communications to engage diverse publics
  • Demonstrated skills in organizing and project management
  • Demonstrated proficiency in creating content for and using social media

Be prepared to submit examples from work portfolio and complete an event planning exercise if selected for interview

Preferred Qualifications
Experience managing comprehensive event campaigns, with track record of engagement.
Experience producing social media campaigns, with track record of engagement.
Experience working independently, taking self-initiative and working under tight deadlines.
