Minnesota RETAP draws on the skills of retired engineers, scientists, managers, planners, and other professionals with experience ranging from lighting and HVAC engineering to stormwater management and city sustainability planning. Together these retirees have hundreds of years of on-the-job technical expertise and know how. RETAP helps MN institutions, municipalities, and small businesses reduce their environmental impact through energy and water conservation and waste reduction. RETAP helps communities reduce their carbon emissions and increase their sustainability.
10-15 hours per month
Facility assessments A team of two or three Minnesota RETAP professionals: · analyze utility bills · visit a site to review facility’s operations and activities · identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency through operational or other changes in lighting and HVAC systems, and · look for ways to reduce waste, conserve water, and reduce utility costs. After the assessment, you will create a customized report you can share with the organization. Each report contains prioritized recommendations, estimated financial and environmental savings, and contact information for funding resources.
RETAP applicants may be retired engineers, scientists, managers, or other professionals from a wide range of technical and non-technical fields. We are currently in need of an additional HVAC expert. Licensed PE will receive preference.
