Salary

Depending upon qualifications and experience, the hiring range for this position is expected to be $65k to $70k.
 

Primary Duties

Senior Accountant (Hybrid)

The Senior Accountant works with the Controller to manage all the general ledger operations in accordance with GAAP (FASB) standards. This position works with internal staff and program managers, as well as external clients and customers to support the preparation of accurate and timely financial reporting for CEE.  The Senior Accountant plays a crucial role in managing financial transactions, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. Expertise in financial analysis and attention to detail will contribute to the overall financial health and success of our organization.

This is a regular, exempt, mid-level position which reports to the Controller and has no direct reports.  It is a full time position that provides a wide range of benefits including Paid Time Off (PTO), medical, dental, life and long-term disability insurance as well as a profit-sharing retirement plan.  This position will require 1 or 2 days per week working at our Minneapolis-North Loop office to addition to the periodic need to attend in person meetings or events.  For the remaining time, there is an option to work in the Minneapolis office, our St. Paul-Midway office location, or remotely.   

Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor accounting activities related to accounts payable, employee reimbursements, and CEE credit cards.
  • Responsible for monthly reconciliation of the bank accounts, credit card statements and other financial records to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.
  • Responsible for the Accounts Payable and Liabilities month-end closed, ensuring all transactions are properly recorded and reconciled; create accrual as needed.
  • Responsible for the 1099 annual reporting, collaborating with the Staff accountant to ensure compliance.
  • Approve journal entries create by other team members, ensuring compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards.
  • Prepare import/exports from the different software that the company maintains (UKG/Klient/Intacct/Salesforce, etc…), making sure financial information across the different platform of the company is accurate and reconciled.
  • Participate in cross-training in all different areas of the Finance Department, being able to serve as a backup to other position in the department. Serve as a back-up to the Senior Accountant-Lending.
  • Utilize and apply knowledge related to FASB accounting standards and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to ensure transactions are recorded appropriately, serve as a resource to other in the department, and to assist or lead with the implementation of new standards.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements and audit schedules, prepare work papers for the annual audit and Form 990 tax return.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements and automation to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Implement best practices in accounting procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned or apparent.
Experience

Qualifications

  • 4-year accounting degree and 2 years of experience (or equivalent) in the accounting field or 2-year Associated degree and 4+ years of experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word and basic office experience required, along with ability to work in other software platforms (i.e., external software like LoanPro, Salesforce).
  • Experience with Federal grants/contract reporting desired but not required.
  • Understand how transactions flow from inception to financial reporting.
  • Must be very detailed, have excellent communication skills, the ability to meet deadlines, and be able to work independently.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality at all times.
  • Knowledge of accounting software (Sage Intacct), nonprofit accounting or mortgage loan processing is preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability and aptitude to quickly learn technical information and new software systems.

General  

  • Work collaboratively with the accounting team and across with other departments to ensure day to day accounting objectives are achieved.
  • On-going monitoring and workflow processing through the shared [email protected] email address.

Working Conditions

  • Ability to the hours required to meet established deadlines, especially during Audit times.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment with high daily pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to perform work indoors in an office environment such as cubicle, open office, or remote/private office.
  • Ability to view and effectively operate a personal computer, either desktop or laptop, for extended periods of time creating, composing, and reviewing documents and spreadsheets.
