Organization Summary

The primary responsibilities of the Structural Engineer IV are to manage, mentor, and lead in the activities related to the design of renewable energy, battery storage, commercial development, and military projects. In addition, as part of an integrated design team, this role will serve as a structural engineering leader responsible for coordinating structural design alongside other disciplines to meet and exceed project schedules and deliverables.

Primary Duties
  • Manage the development and preparation of structural designs including analysis & calculations, and drawing preparation
  • Manage and Develop department standards for calculations, drawings, and project specifications
  • Represent structural engineering in the negotiation of project Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract, customer Requests for Proposals (RFPs), professional service agreements, or other contractual requirements ensuring the projects meet or exceed project goals
  • Responsible for all aspects a team s performance including scope, budget, schedule, quality, risk, constraints, and client satisfaction
  • Lead discussions with internal and external partners including cross-discipline, construction, vendors, fabricator(s), and owners to address structural-related issues or concerns
  • Manage and coach team in achieving performance goals
  • Focus on ensuring continuous feedback to, within, and from team members.
  • Prepare project planning documentation
  • Identify risks before they become issues and come up with effective mitigation plans
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining quality assurance and control processes within team and structural department
  • Responsible for developing and managing client relationships

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 6 years of experience in structural design
  • 3-Years previous experience in Solar PV structural, geotechnical, or construction engineering.
  • Working knowledge and skills in the following with advanced skills or training in two:
    • AutoCAD
    • Revit or BIM experience is a plus
    • Microsoft Office software
    • MathCad
    • RISA 3D or other FEA
    • RISA Foundation
    • LPile or similar
  • Functional in utilizing spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and computer operations
  • Established competence with codes including: IBC, CBC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, PCI, NDS
  • Must be detail oriented and efficient in problem solving
  • Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Positive and professional attitude

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • Solar PV/wind substation structural engineering
  • Solar PV driven pile foundation design expertise
  • Commercial/Industrial rooftop solar structural design industry experience
  • Solar PV geotechnical experience

Position Specifications

  • Education Requirements: Bachelor s in civil or architectural engineering program from an ABET accredited program. A NCEES credentials education is also acceptable. A masters degree in structural engineering is preferred. Education should have an emphasis on structural engineering.
  • Certification or Licensure Requirements: Professional Engineering (PE) license required; Structural Engineering (SE) license preferred
