Salary
  • Regular bi-weekly pay schedule (competitive, based on experience)
    •  Compensation is Salary plus Commission
    • The position is NOT ‘Commission only’, therefore the salary is NOT a ‘draw’
Primary Duties
  • Receive sales leads and manage the sales cycle of each lead via CRM system. Sales cycle steps consist of lead creation, qualification, proposal, close sale, and follow-up. Training unique to solar and TruNorth Solar will be provided.
  • Use CRM system designed for solar companies for each interaction with potential customers.
  • Qualify customers by calling them in a timely manner to determine if a solar project is viable for them and for TruNorth Solar. This includes asking various open-ended questions including understanding customers’ interest level/goals and needs, in order to build a positive relationship. Present and explain solar scenarios that reflect customer needs and show benefits.
  • For qualified leads use the CRM system design tools to prepare a detailed proposal for a turnkey solar system that shows what the system looks like, what equipment is used, company information, pricing information, as well as the financial and environmental benefits. All training for this will be provided, no prior solar experience is needed, but computer literacy is essential.
  • Present the solar proposal to the customer in a consultative sales manner via Zoom but sometimes in person. Ask open-ended questions to customers throughout the presentation/discussion, and validate his/her understanding to ensure you and they understand all the objections (so that you can address them). Continue to build relationships with customers.
  • Work towards getting commitment to move forward with solar from all customers proposed. Answer any questions in a timely manner. Use CRM tool to generate contracts for those customers ready to move forward.
  • Reach out to the team leader (as needed) to collaborate on best practices to close sales on undecided/non-committed customers (who have not signed a contract).
  • Once customers have signed the contract (closed sale) you will pass the details of the solar project and customer information to the construction team, so they can begin the pre-construction phase. You will be notified if updates are required and work with the customer.
  • Respond to questions or assistance needed from the construction team to ensure any customer-related issues are solved during the pre-construction phase
  • Follow up with each customer once their solar system is completed to ensure they understand how to use the solar monitoring application, answer any questions or concerns, help them understand how to read their new electric bill that now shows the solar savings, and ALWAYS ask for referrals.
  • Manage your annual sales to effectively contribute to meeting TNS revenue goals
  • Attend weekly sales meetings (via Zoom) and bi-weekly goal-setting/coaching sessions with your team leader.
  • Meet with the team leader on a scheduled basis to improve your sales skills and industry knowledge.
  • Occasionally attend industry and community education events with the goal of finding new leads typically by doing a presentation or having one on one discussions with prospective customers. This may take place during evening hours and on weekends. This is rare but it does occur a handful of times throughout the year. Generally speaking, this is NOT a role where you are required to provide sales leads as this happens through marketing and organic word of mouth (primarily) making sales a lot easier than with most companies. Door knocking is NOT required!
Experience
  • High integrity and ethics. All around good character.
  • Skilled communicator and listener. Homeowners buy from whom they like…it’s as simple as that.
  • Ability to work unsupervised. We give our sales consultants a lot of flexibility, but in return we expect them to be productive accordingly in order to meet their income and lifestyle needs (which will align with the company).
  • Ability to multitask and work on multiple leads at a time.
  • Experience selling directly to homeowners and/or businesses.
  • Solar Sales Experience is a bonus but is not required.
  • Experienced in Microsoft Office, Gmail, Excel, and all-around intermediate computer skills.
