EV fast charger grant dollars available in MN

$1.4 million for EV fast chargers available from MPCA

On July 5, the MPCA released a request for proposal (RFP) for electric-vehicle (EV) charging stations using Volkswagen settlement funds. The purpose of the grant is to reduce air pollution by expanding access to EV charging across the state.

The RFP makes available approximately $1.4 million to install fast-charging stations along designated highway corridors around Minnesota. This amount is anticipated to provide about 22 fast chargers. (A separate RFP for Level 2 EV charging stations is expected to be released soon.)

Grant proposal submissions are due August 21, 2018. Visit the EV Charging Station Grant webpage to learn more about this grant opportunity and download the application forms. All questions should be submitted to [email protected] using “EV Fast Charging” in the subject line. Answers to questions will be posted in the Questions and Answers tab on the web page.

Put in a great proposal: There will also be an EV fast-charging station RFP training on July 19th at 9am. The training will be available online by webcast and recorded. For those who would like to attend in person, spots are available at MPCA’s St. Paul office.

VW settlement: Additional grants for EV and diesel vehicle replacement projects using VW settlement funds will be forthcoming over the next year. To learn more about Minnesota’s plan for VW settlement funds, visit our web site.
