CERTs Co-directors

Co-Director Note | Jan. 2026

CERTs is a statewide partnership with a shared mission to connect Minnesotans to the resources they need to identify and implement community-based clean energy. That means that we spend a lot of time talking about things like heat pumps and weatherization and renewable energy. But today, we want to talk about one of the other words in our mission: community.

CERTs is about communities. Minnesota’s communities. All of Minnesota’s communities. From Halstad to Grand Portage, Worthington to Caledonia, Bemidji to Minneapolis, we support Minnesotans working together to imagine and build their clean energy future. Together. As communities.

Right now, a lot of Minnesota’s communities are hurting. We are seeing it every day, most dramatically in the Twin Cities, yes, but not just there. Like you, we live across the state, and we are seeing uncertainty in many of the communities we call home.

As we close out this first month of 2026, we are leaning into community. Minnesota is a place where we care about each other, and where we take care of each other — even if we don’t always agree on everything — because that’s what it means to be a community.

So please — stay warm, be well, and care for your community.
