The Minnesota Department of Commerce is seeking proposals from residential energy contractors for its Training for Residential Energy Contractors (TREC) grant program, which aims to increase the number of skilled contractors for home energy efficiency upgrades.
Minnesota will use these funds to achieve the following goals:
- Increase the skills of qualified residential energy contractors to meet the growing demand for energy efficiency upgrades in Minnesota. This demand surge is driven by state and federal rebates, along with increasing consumer interest.
- Address technical gaps and industry best practices in contractor training.
- Support entrepreneurship and business development.
- Integrate workforce pipelines into training program recruitment.
The request for proposals is open until December 31, 2025.
