Community Liaison
The Community Liaison serves as MIGIZI’s primary front-of-house and connection point for youth, families, community partners, and visitors. This role is responsible for welcoming individuals to MIGIZI, supporting daily front-desk operations, and helping ensure a safe, organized, and positive environment for youth programming.
Working closely with program and administrative staff, the Community Liaison supports afterschool activities, assists with communication and outreach, and connects youth and families to information and resources. This position plays an important role in keeping daily operations running smoothly while reinforcing MIGIZI’s values and community-centered approach.

$19 per hour
- This is a part-time, 32hour/week, in-person position
- Summer (mid-June through mid-August), Mon-Thur, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm
- School year (mid-August through mid-June), Mon-Thur, 10:30 am - 6:30pm
- Occasional evenings and weekends required
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Core Responsibilities – Front Desk & Youth Engagement
These responsibilities are central to the role and are performed regularly.
- Serve as the first point of contact for youth, families, partners, and visitors by staffing the front desk and main entrance
- Greet guests and youth in a welcoming, respectful, and culturally responsive manner
- Follow and enforce MIGIZI’s Visitor Protocol, including sign-in procedures, to ensure safety and accountability
- Monitor youth presence in common areas and reinforcing MIGIZI’s Good Relative Agreement
- Accept, log, and distribute packages and deliveries received at the main entrance
Program & Administrative Support
These duties support daily programming and staff coordination.
- Assist program managers and the Programs & Projects Manager with outreach activities, including phone calls to students and families
- Help prepare program spaces, including setting up meal service before youth arrival
- Support upkeep of program spaces by assisting with cleanup and sanitation before and after programming
- Maintain and organize the front-desk point-of-contact resource kiosk
Community Outreach & Occasional Duties
These responsibilities occur as needed based on programming and events.
- Call community partners and schools to share information about MIGIZI events and programs
- Post flyers in the community to promote programs and upcoming events
- Assist program staff with tabling at community events by engaging youth and families and sharing program information
- Assist with transporting or arranging transportation for students, including occasional operation of the MIGIZI van
- Perform other related duties as assigned that support front-desk operations, programming, or community engagement

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a cooperative, collaborative, and flexible team environment
- Ability to model positive, respectful, and supportive behavior for youth and staff
- Experience working with youth in a variety of settings and on a variety of projects
- Ability to actively engage youth and families/guardians in support of education and career goals
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and Google Workspace
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Ability to transport youth using an organizational vehicle, as needed
Ability to successfully pass a background check as a condition of employment
Work Environment
MIGIZI’s Community Liaison works primarily in MIGIZI office settings and provides administrative and programmatic support. The average work week for this position is Monday – Thursday or Monday - Friday.

- Knowledge of American Indian values and cultural practices
- Familiarity with Minneapolis–Saint Paul American Indian communities
