EV fast-charging grant applications due Dec. 9, 2025

Apply now for an electric vehicle fast-charging grant

The MPCA has approximately $1.89 million available to install electric vehicle (EV) direct current fast-charging stations in public places in select Minnesota locations along key charging corridors. For the purpose of this grant round, roadways have been assigned into “EV corridors.” These fast charging corridors along major roadways will allow eventual travel by EV drivers over long distances throughout the state, making it feasible for more Minnesotans to drive electric vehicles.

Funding available

The maximum amount available is 80% of project costs, up to $150,000 for total project costs per 150 kilowatt (kW) dual-port fast-charging station. Each charging station will be installed in a public place. Regardless of whether installation is on government-owned property or non-government owned property, charging stations will be accessible by users 24 hours per day, seven days per week for no less than 355 days per year. A minimum of 13 150-kW dual-port charging stations are anticipated to be installed through this program.

Grantees will be required to provide a 20% cash match. Eligible sources of a cash match include, but are not limited to, cash, loans, other grants, or capital assets dedicated to the project. Applicants must describe match funding in the application.

The grant funds come from Minnesota’s share of the national Volkswagen (VW) settlement.

Eligibility

For-profit, nonprofit, and public entities, including state, local, and Tribal governments. While multi-organizational collaboration is allowed, no single entity may be a part of multiple proposals. If multiple organizations apply together, one must be designated a lead to receive funding (only one name as applicant). Applicants can apply for as many charging sites as desired but can only be awarded up to five sites.

Questions?

Applicants who have any questions regarding this request for proposals (RFP) must email questions to [email protected], subject line: “EV fast-charging” no later than 4 p.m. on Nov. 20, 2025. Answers to questions will be posted frequently in the SWIFT Supplier Portal.
