Metro CERTs Spring Resource Sharing & Networking Event

On April 15, 2009 Metro CERTs successfully hosted an event at the St. Paul Science Museum to celebrate their one-year anniversary, share community clean energy projects and approaches, and allow for those in attendance to connect over some fantastic food and drink.

Diana McKeown, Metro CERTs Coordinator, kicked off the evening by introducing Metro CERTs and where the team has come over the last year. Key accomplishments include establishing the Metro CERTs structure, establishing the Metro CERTs Steering Committee, getting 20 Metro CERTs affiliates, partaking in more than 30 speaking engagements reaching nearly 2000 people, raising foundation funds (Carolyn Foundation, Bush Foundation), and participating directly in several in projects. Major projects are Shoreview/SummerHouse, Lake Elmo Rotary, One Stop Residential Energy Efficiency Workshops in Longfellow, and St. Anthony Park, St. Paul.

Diana was followed by a number of CERTs affiliates and friends who shared their successes and challenges, including representatives from the City of Elk River, City of Oakdale, Mahtomedi Area Green Initiative (MAGI), St. Paul District 10-Como Council, and City of Edina. A summary of stimulus funds available was also given.
