Below are new stimulus developments from the Minnesota Office of Energy Secuirty.
July News:
- A new publication called the Stimulus Funding Summary is now available on our website. This is a summary of stimulus-funded programs for homeowners, businesses and local governments.
- The competitive grant process through the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program is planned for release on September 1, 2009. Details will be announced when available.
- The Residential Energy Efficiency Grant Program is planned for release on September 1, 2009. Details will be announced when available.
- The Emerging Renewable Energy Industries Grant Program is planned for release in August 2009. Details will be announced when available.
- The Minnesota Solar Electric Rebate Program has officially launched. An initial installment of $400,000 has been allocated for this program. Additional details on the program and the application form can be accessed on our website in the Solar Electric Rebate PDF document.

June Summary:
- The deadline for cities, counties and Indian tribes to apply for direct formula grants through the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program was extended to August 10, 2009. Eligible entities must apply directly to the U.S. Department of Energy.
- The draft state plan for EECBG was submitted to USDOE on June 25, 2009. USDOE has 30-60 days to approve the plan. A copy of the plan is available on our website.
- The Office of Energy Security (OES) has accepted 50% of State Energy Program funds from USDOE. USDOE has requested OES to provide additional information on various program aspects before the release of funds. OES and USDOE are working to finalize the program aspects as quickly as possible.
- OES has accepted 50% of Weatherization Assistance Program funds from USDOE. OES and USDOE are working to finalize the program aspects as quickly as possible.
- Weatherization Service Providers are ramping up to begin production work by hiring workers and purchasing equipment. Work will start as soon as guidance on prevailing wages related to the Davis Bacon Act is issued by USDOE and U.S. Department of Labor.
