Macalester intern Gordy Moore ready to get to work for Metro CERT

Metro CERT welcomes Gordy Moore to their crew for the school year!

Gordy will be assisting the Sustainable Communities team at Great Plains Institute (GPI), working most closely with the Metro CERT program in addition to supporting Minnesota GreenStep Cities and the Grow Solar partnership. More specifically, he may support Metro CERT communications by writing case studies for Seed Grant projects and blogs to highlight clean energy resources for communities, among an array of other tasks.

Gordy is currently a senior Geography major and Environmental Studies minor at Macalester College across the river in Saint Paul. In his time at Macalester, he has worked in Mac’s Sustainability Office and last year as the first-ever Sustainability Officer for Macalester College Student Government, developing and assisting with a wide variety of on-campus sustainability initiatives and programs.

Gordy will be at GPI for the 2016-2017 school year through Macalester’s Off Campus Work Study program, and is excited to expand his knowledge and understanding of energy issues in metro and statewide communities during his experience at GPI. Although he’s fascinated by energy-specific issues, his environmental/sustainability interests also include agriculture, transportation, environmental equity, and climate change. If you’re looking for someone to talk pedestrian issues with, go on a leisurely bike ride, or peruse a good bookstore, he’s your guy. You can get in touch with Gordy at [email protected].
