Preweatherization Specialist
Sustainable Resources Center is a Minnesota nonprofit that works on healthy, safe, and energy-efficient homes. Since 1977, SRC has weatherized nearly 12,000 Minnesota homes and has also worked on lead hazard reduction, healthy homes services, and home safety improvements. SRC’s work includes deep energy efficiency and decarbonization home retrofits for income-qualified residents, helping families make their homes safer, healthier, and more energy efficient.

The Preweatherization Specialist works with Energy Conservation Specialists to help solve home repair or health and safety issues that are stopping an eligible home from moving forward with weatherization. Examples listed in the posting include knob and tube wiring, asbestos, and structural damage.
The role includes verifying home repair needs or health hazards, visiting properties in person when needed, deciding the best solution for the repair issue, creating bid requests, sending bid requests to contractors, selecting contractors under program guidelines, tracking contractor progress, amending work orders when needed, entering program data, communicating with clients and contractors, and staying in regular contact with the Energy Conservation Specialists managing the cases.
Qualified applicants need professional or extensive personal experience in home construction, structural maintenance, repair, or weatherization. The posting lists the experience level as 2 to 5 years and the education level as high school or equivalent. Applicants also need a valid driver’s license, a relatively clean driving record, an insured personal vehicle, Microsoft Office skills, and comfort using basic office technology.
