Solar for All awards headed for Minnesota

Solar for All

The EPA announced the $7 billion Solar for All awards that will fund programs nationwide to enable low-income and disadvantaged communities to deploy and benefit from residential distributed solar.

The MN Department of Commerce will receive $62,450,000 to support residential solar for low-income and disadvantaged households in communities across Minnesota.

Midwest Tribal Energy Resources Association will receive $62,330,000 to deploy Tribally-owned residential solar, along with storage and necessary upgrades, for the benefit of the 35 Tribes located in Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin!

The Solar for All program will expand existing programs and support new programs for residential-serving solar benefitting low-income and disadvantaged households.

According to the Minnesota Department of Commerce, the program's objectives are:

  • Reduce emissions of greenhouse gases and other air pollutants.
  • Deliver benefits of greenhouse gas-reducing and air pollution-reducing projects to communities, particularly low-income and disadvantaged communities.
  • Mobilize financing and private capital to stimulate additional deployment of greenhouse gas- and air pollution-reduction projects.
