The Solar Estimator is responsible for reviewing project information, bid packages, drawings, and designs to develop complete cost estimates and proposals for photovoltaic projects. This role includes creating and managing bid packages, soliciting quotes from vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers, working directly with customers during the bidding and design process, estimating labor and equipment costs, preparing detailed contractual proposals, and supporting project handoff to preconstruction and construction teams. The position also includes estimating solar and battery storage projects ranging from 1 MW to 50+ MW, identifying project risks, maintaining estimating databases, and providing technical support related to drawings, construction methods, materials, tools, and equipment.
Knobelsdorff is looking for candidates with 2 to 5 years of estimating experience, or a combination of education, estimating, and field experience. Preferred backgrounds include general estimating, solar, construction management, or project management. Experience with estimating software such as Heavy Bid, Accubid, or B2W is preferred. Knowledge of scheduling software such as Microsoft Project or P6 is also preferred. Candidates should have strong Microsoft Office skills, communication skills, presentation skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to travel up to 20%.
