Solar for Public Buildings Readiness Assessment deadline June 3

Readiness Assessment deadline June 3

The MN Department of Commerce is administering a $4.3 million Solar for Public Buildings grant program to help cover the costs of solar installation for public buildings. Applicants may receive grants to cover up to 70% of the costs of a solar installation.

This is intended to pair with the federal 30% Investment Tax Credit for solar, which is now available to non-taxable entities through ‘Direct Pay’ and in total would cover 100% of the cost of a solar array.

The program will have two grant rounds, each with a two-step process: a readiness assessment and a full grant application.

The timeline for Round 1:

  • Date of Issue: April 22, 2024
  • Readiness Assessment Deadline: June 3, 2024
  • Full Grant Eligibility Notification: July 1, 2024
  • Full Grant Application Due: September 23, 2024
  • Round 2 readiness assessment will open fall 2024.

Applicants receive extra points for participating in a pre-consultation meeting with CERTs.

Contact Peter Lindstrom ([email protected]) or Aaron Backs ([email protected]) with CERTs to schedule a consultation.
