CERTified Ambassador Project in Rochester is Positively Electrifying

Our Rochester Sustainability and Resiliency Commission on which I serve had decided to try and get our members into the CERTs cohort.  When I looked into the materials it helped me personally realize how much I had to learn to be a better energy ambassador in my city and in my role on the commission.

Our project was to go into the community and be a visible presence for clean energy. We worked at the Rochester Earthfest as well as the Rochester Public Utility Arbor day event for young students, sharing programs with our community and hoping to teach a little to the next generation.
 

It is amazing how interested people are in learning how electrification can benefit them and the environment. It’s also clear people have a lot of questions, the finances can be a concern, and finding the rebates and other funds like tax incentives to help move to electric can be intimidating.  It was good to have a trusted resource for our community.

I’m excited my husband and I are traveling with a tour to Germany and Amsterdam with our Mayor and City council President.  We are visiting some of Rochester’s sister cities including Münster, where we will visit Bioenergy Park to learn about local sustainability initiatives. Rochester’s has started a new Healthy Home Helpers program (editor’s note: winner if a CERTs seed grant this year… Stay tuned!) and I am serving as a test subject for things for the test calls to set up appointments to the home visit pilot. It’s fun to help start something new to serve our community.
