Take Part in a Small Wind Bulk-Buy Opportunity in South Central Minnesota

Small wind turbine on display at West Central Telephone Association Region Nine Development Commission is working with Windustry, a national nonprofit focusing on community wind, to develop a Small Wind Bulk-Buy Program across nine counties—Blue Earth, Brown, Faribault, Le Sueur, Martin, Nicollet, Sibley, Waseca and Watonwan. Windustry was recently awarded a $275,000 Rural Business Enterprise Grant (RBEG) from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development office to assist with this work.

Region Nine is currently seeking communities or persons in the nine county area interested in developing small wind projects.

Project development services will be provided under the auspices of the RBEG grant, but do not include the actual purchase of a wind turbine. Services will include access to legal, financial and wind technology consultants. Information about financial resources will be available as part of the project.

The geographic focus of this project will be determined by community and individual interest. For more information, or to participate in this project, please contact Sarah at [email protected] or (507)389-8880.
