Best Corn Maze of the Year? Our vote is for the Nelson Farm in Litchfield

The Nelson Farm in Litchfield, MN is home to what we think must be the nation’s best corn maze this year. The maze features a wind turbine and the phrase “Go Green” in celebration of local wind energy production.

“We’ve seen two wind farms go up since the past spring,” says Don Nelson, owner of Nelson Farm. “There have been lots of newspaper articles in our community, and lots of folks talking about the turbines coming through town.”

The two wind farms nearby started producing electricity in March 2011. According to Don, with a dozen wind turbines on each farm they are capable of each producing 19.8 megawatt-hours of electricity—that means the two farms together can power 10,000-12,000 homes at full capacity.

Don also noted that “Going Green” has been a good job-creation tool for the Litchfield area. “We have a wind turbine repair company called TRICO here in town. We have very happy neighbors and very happy people because of the wind turbine industry right now.”

Again, Don and the folks at Nelson Farm get our vote for BEST CORN MAZE EVER!
