The Climate Engagement Organizer will develop community-centered, relevant, and accessible programming related to climate resilience in order to collect data and build a network of community partners in the Frogtown & Rondo neighborhoods.

Primary Duties
  • Work with the 825 Arts Community Engagement Director and MN Climate Adaptation Partnership (MCAP) educator to develop community programming related to climate resilience.
  • Collaborate in a community science (Participatory Science) air pollution monitoring and advocacy program.
  • Facilitate the identification of Frogtown/Rondo neighborhood resident youth who are able to use and evaluate air quality monitor data.
  • Assist in the producing and promotion of an event for the youth program cohort to share their learnings with the community (including MCAP, University of Minnesota, other community organizations/partners, and funders).
  • Develop a collaborative community climate resilience education plan.
  • Produce two community-wide Climate Resilience and Art events in 2025
  • Plan, Coordinate and execute climate engagement activities around air quality, in conjunction with 825 Arts events, Evaluate and share the impacts of the events on community awareness and preparedness with MCAP and community members
  • Develop fun and engaging activities for conversation and data about climate change.
  • Work closely with 825 communications manager to create organizational messaging about climate engagement.
  • Develop plans for community participation, data collection and analysis, that works alongside currently planned events and engagement activities.
  • Identify and explore opportunities to supplement 825 Arts’ resilience capacity-
    Determine and connect with community organizations to strengthen networks and redundancies.
  • Manage two members of the 825 Arts Youth Arts Leadership Team, who will assist with community programming.
  • Identify and share learning opportunities with the Youth Leaders to build their capacity and effectiveness in the work.
  • Manage youth leaders shifts for supporting Climate Outreach work at community events.
Experience
  • be 21 years of age or older.
  • have reliable transportation.
  • Live in Saint Paul.
  • Pass a background check.
  • be passionate about climate engagement in the community.
  • Be able to work in the Google Suite (including google docs, spreadsheets, forms).
  • outgoing and comfortable talking with diverse groups of people.

The ideal candidate:

  • lives in the Frogtown or Rondo neighborhood.
  • Has a background and experience in climate/environmental advocacy.
  • Is highly organized and self-driven.
  • Considers themselves an artist.
  • Is bilingual in one of Saint Paul’s top five spoken languages (Spanish, Hmong, Somali, Karen, Nepali).
