Primary Duties

The Energy Analyst will support the delivery of energy efficiency and evaluation and validation initiatives. This role offers a balance of analytical work—such as calculating energy savings from high-efficiency equipment upgrades—and customer-facing responsibilities that involve equipment submetering and direct communication with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.

The Energy Analyst will be trusted to manage project details with accuracy, maintain consistent follow-through, and help ensure that program requirements are met. The position requires strong technical skills in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools, along with the ability to engage effectively in both written and in-person communication.

This is a dynamic hybrid role that combines office-based tasks with site visits and customer meetings. The ideal candidate thrives on variety, approaches work with curiosity and initiative, and contributes to a collaborative team environment while being capable of working independently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with customers, contractors, and trade allies to identify and communicate opportunities for energy savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Conduct and coordinate facility assessments (under appropriate supervision), including ASHRAE Level I and II audits, and install and operate submetering devices.
  • Engage participants through outreach and direct communication to promote program offerings and support project development through cold calling, soft leads, and provided client lists.
  • Maintain timely, professional communication with clients and stakeholders to build strong relationships and ensure satisfaction.
  • Prepare accurate reports, estimates, invoices, and compliance documentation to support program integrity and track project performance.
  • Support data analysis, reporting, and related functions that enable program success and continuous improvement.
  • Balance independent task execution with collaborative teamwork—knowing when to run with a project and when to seek input.
  • Participate in site visits (generally within 200 miles of the Austin area) to engage customers and observe project outcomes.
Experience

Required Skills

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science/Studies, Energy Management, Sustainability, Business, or related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to organize and analyze data effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accuracy in reporting.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently across diverse audiences, both virtually and in person.
  • Demonstrated initiative, adaptability, and reliability in managing tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Travel to customer sites as needed.

Preferred Skills

  • Prior experience with energy efficiency, sustainability, utilities, construction, or technical customer programs.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with outreach or participant engagement in energy or community programs.
  • A history of building strong professional relationships and delivering excellent customer service.
