Energy Conservation Specialist - Home Energy Auditor

$26.50/hour starting, non-exempt (eligible for overtime)
This is a full-time position eligible for paid time off, vacation, paid holidays, 401(k) with employer match, medical and dental insurance, employer-paid life insurance, short-term disability and long-term disability benefits, and a cell phone stipend.
Eight (8) hours per day, Monday - Friday. Exact hours are flexible.
SRC is looking for a new Energy Conservation Specialist - Energy Auditor to join our Energy Programs team.
JOB DUTIES:
- Perform on-site home energy audits following the MN Weatherization Assistance Program protocol. This includes inspection and analysis of the building envelope, heating systems, electrical, plumbing and all other aspects of building characteristics that may be considered for home improvement, with an emphasis on energy conservation.
- Use a wide variety of testing and diagnostic equipment (blower door, infrared cameras, gas sniffer, etc) to identify energy conservation potential and unsafe or hazardous conditions.
- Complete data entry into program-specific software per program requirements to determine the best improvements for the home.
- Create work orders for contractors and assist contractors with any questions or changes.
- Stay in touch with clients during the weatherization process.
- Conduct Quality Control Inspections following the MN Weatherization Assistance Program protocol.
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE:
- Has a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Has studied Building Science or energy auditing and is enthusiastic about the benefits it can bring to homes and their residents.
- Is currently certified as a Building Performance Institute (BPI) Home Energy Professional and/or BPI - Quality Control Inspector (QCI), or is willing to become certified within a year of starting. We will pay for your training!
- Is able to relate to and communicate effectively with individuals from many different cultures and socioeconomic situations – on the phone and in person.
- Can lift 75 pounds occasionally and 20 pounds frequently.
- Has the ability to crawl, climb, and otherwise move about in confined, dusty and dirty work sites like attics and crawl spaces.
- Has computer skills and is very comfortable with modern office technology such as a copier, a scanner, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Has daily access to an automobile and a relatively clean driving record (more details below).
- Is able to read and retain the MN State Weatherization Policy Manual program rules and guidelines.
- Enjoys working collaboratively with colleagues who are equally passionate about home energy!
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in residential energy auditing including US DOE Weatherization Protocol.
- Furnace testing experience.
- Bi- or multilingual, particularly in Spanish, Hmong or Somali.

- Energy Conservation Specialists drive their own vehicles throughout the community to visit our clients. Applicants will need a valid driver’s license, a relatively clean driving record, and daily access to an insured automobile. Mileage is reimbursed at federal rates.
