Executive Director
The Minnesota Solar Energy Industries Association (MnSEIA) is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization that powers Minnesota’s solar and energy storage industries through education, advocacy, and industry leadership. MnSEIA convenes stakeholders, advances healthy and competitive markets, shapes equitable clean energy policy, and expands access to clean energy opportunities that benefit all Minnesotans. Through the collective strength of its more than 150 member companies and organizations, MnSEIA works at the legislature, in regulatory proceedings, and across the industry to build a stronger clean energy economy and move Minnesota’s solar and storage industries forward.
Salary range: $120,000–$150,000, commensurate with experience. Benefits may include employer-paid health, dental, and vision insurance, disability coverage, generous paid time off, retirement contributions, and flexible hours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the strategic direction, management, and administration of MnSEIA in partnership with the Board
- Develop and administer the annual budget; oversee accounting, reporting, payroll, and internal controls
- Diversify revenue across dues, sponsorships, events, grants, and partnerships
- Lead legislative and regulatory advocacy; serve as MnSEIA's primary spokesperson before policymakers, regulators, and the media
- Drive membership recruitment, retention, and engagement
- Plan conferences, educational programs, and networking events
- Oversee day-to-day operations, HR, vendors, compliance, and risk management
- Track performance against measurable goals and report regularly to the Board
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Business, Law, Public Policy, Energy, Political Science, Communications, or similar); advanced degree preferred
- Executive leadership experience managing teams and building high-performing cultures
- Proven success in strategic planning, budgeting, fundraising, and revenue generation
- Familiarity with nonprofit governance or membership associations
- Strong relationship-building across boards, members, policymakers, and partners
- Excellent written, verbal, and public speaking skills
- Knowledge of state government and legislative/regulatory processes
- Sound judgment, political acumen, and the ability to build consensus
