GreenCorps member Abby Hornberger serves the Great Plains Institute

Abby joins the Great Plains Institute, working on electric vehicles (EVs) with the Communities team and Metro CERT for an 11-month service term. In this role, Abby will conduct outreach and education encouraging the use of EVs and EV infrastructure in the Metro area and greater Minnesota. Additionally, Abby will work to improve EV resources for historically underserved communities, applying GPI’s Equity Lens Tool.

Before becoming a GreenCorps member, Abby completed a B.S. in Environmental Science, Policy, and Management at the University of Minnesota. She will apply experience from her past position as a Communications Assistant with the Institute on the Environment, in this new role. Abby is passionate about the clean energy transition, and building community through projects. In her free time, Abby enjoys going on hikes, going to concerts, and community organizing.

I’m thrilled to be serving with GPI, learning how to initiate more community readiness to clean transportation, and increasing awareness of incentives for low income and local small businesses to make energy efficiency upgrades.
