Starting pay rate is $25.00-$28.00/hour depending on qualifications.
The Home Energy Auditor (also known as a Weatherization Auditor) conducts inspections, pre-audits, and energy audits for the Agency’s Weatherization and Energy Assistance Programs as needed. You'll work with clients in their homes, which makes up about 20% of the role. This work includes accessing attic spaces, basements, crawlspaces, and living areas to determine necessary services. You'll be responsible for taking home measurements, performing combustion analysis, conducting home diagnostic testing, entering data, and creating work orders in a timely manner, in accordance with program policy and MN Department of Commerce guidance. You'll also educate and empower low-income program participants to understand their utility bills, reduce energy consumption, and refer clients to other eligible programs. This full-time position (40 hours per week) will be based in Faribault or Zumbrota with frequent travel to clients' homes in Goodhue, Rice, and Wabasha counties, as well as for training and meetings.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Post-secondary training in energy auditing or construction-related activities or work equivalent
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel
- Ability to pass a required background study, as defined by the position
- Current, valid driver’s license in good standing, as defined by the agency’s insurance provider (unless explicitly approved otherwise by the supervisor)
- Current, valid personal automobile insurance (unless explicitly approved otherwise by the supervisor)
- Strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in residential energy auditing -- including M200 Weatherization Protocol, furnace testing and heating load calculations preferred
- Current Building Performance Institute (BPI) certification, HEP Energy Auditor, HEP Quality Control Inspector Certification, or another Minnesota Department of Commerce approved certification
Functional Requirements:
- Daily use of a computer and standard office equipment
- Frequent travel using a personal means to meet with participants or commute to alternate work locations
- Frequent bending, squatting, or reaching during routine tasks
- Frequent lifting and carrying of 50 pounds (75-100 pounds with lift assistance such as a dolly or co-worker) and crawling, climbing, and moving in confined spaces.
