MPCA e-bikes for business grant applications due Jan. 15

Tribes, cities, counties, and other local governments can apply by Dec. 11, 2025

The MPCA is offering approximately $135,000 in grant funding to help Minnesota businesses and organizations purchase bicycles and electric-assisted bicycles for commercial use.

Applications are due Jan. 15, 2026.

Please submit questions about this grant to [email protected] with the subject line “FY26 E-bikes for business grant” no later than Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026, at 4 p.m. CST. 

Eligible applicants

  • any business or group operating in Minnesota, including Tribes, nonprofits, and government entities
  • for-profit businesses must have 500 or fewer full-time employees
     

Eligible projects

This grant offers funding to purchase new bicycles and electric-assisted bicycles. To qualify, the bicycles or e-bikes must be actively used for one or both of the following purposes:

  • delivery services: moving property or goods
  • commercial services: moving equipment, supplies, or tools for installation, repair, or maintenance job

You may also include the cost of certain accessories in your request. You can ask for up to $200 per new bike or e-bike for these items. Eligible accessories include: bike helmets, bike lights, locks, luggage racks, baskets, cargo trailers, panniers/bags/backpacks

Ineligible projects
This grant does not fund projects where the bicycles or e-bikes are used only for transporting people; this includes personal commuting, staff transportation, or ride-sharing/taxi services.

Available funds
The MPCA anticipates awarding a total of approximately $135,000.

Grant awards are between $3,000 - $24,000 per applicant.

Grantees are required to provide a 25% match toward the project's total cost. Example: Let's say your project costs $6,000 in total.

  • you pay (your 25% match): $1,500
  • the grant pays (the other 75%): Up to $4,500

Any money you spend before the grant contract is signed is not eligible for reimbursement by the grant and cannot be counted as your match.
