Organization Summary

The Renewable Technician is responsible for on-site inspection, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of renewable energy systems, including wind turbines, solar installations, and battery storage systems. The role includes field-based soil and concrete testing for wind farm construction projects. This position requires frequent travel and extended stays at project sites (typically 3-9 months per project). Housing and food costs are covered with a generous per diem.

The Renewable Technician will work closely with engineers, project managers, and contractors to ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and project specifications. Salary Range:$20.00 To $24.00 Hourly

Primary Duties

  • Conduct field concrete testing, including slump, cylinder casting, de-molding, and compression tests.
  • Perform soil inspections and testing (excavation observations, proof rolling, nuclear density testing, Dynamic Cone Penetrometer testing, etc.).
  • Document and report test results to contractors, clients, and project managers.
  • Communicate with the Lead Wind Energy Technician and contractors to ensure timely test completion.
  • Assist with installation, troubleshooting, and repair of wind, solar, and battery energy storage systems.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and inspections of renewable energy systems.
  • Collect and analyze performance data to optimize system efficiency.
  • Follow industry regulations (OSHA, NEC, environmental standards) to maintain safety and compliance.
  • Operate specialized field equipment for testing and diagnostics.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures while following strict safety protocols.
  • Work in various environmental conditions, including remote outdoor settings.
Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate’s degree or technical certification in renewable energy, electrical engineering, or construction technology preferred).
  • Ability to pursue ACI Concrete Field-Testing Level I certification.
  • Experience in concrete and soil testing is desired but not required.
  • Ability to learn and reliably perform required tests, document data, and communicate results to contractors and project managers.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work independently and adapt to long-term travel assignments (3-9 months per project).
