Primary Duties

Job Summary

Hybrid work environment with potential for significant telework. Primary work location will be the Golden Rule Building in St. Paul.

The Training and Outreach Specialist administers and organizes training for the MN Weatherization Assistance Program, which provides energy conservation upgrades to income-eligible households. This position also serves as a communication liaison, acting as the initial point of contact for internal and external partners. Finally, this position supports the execution of a multifaceted year-long training plan including managing to a budget, contract negotiation, reporting requirements, and development of technical guidance documents.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of experience facilitating the delivery of technical training and/or providing technical assistance.
    • A bachelor's degree in Education, Business Administration, Project Management, Building Science, or related field can be substituted for one (1) year of experience.
    • An advanced degree in Education, Business Administration, Project Management, Building Science, or related field can be substituted for eighteen (18) months of experience.

Applicants who meet the above education/experience requirements will be further evaluated based on the following:

  • Training, outreach, or communications experience.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Solid project management experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with the Weatherization Assistance Program.
  • Experience in Building Science/Energy Efficiency.
  • Direct experience providing energy efficiency and/or weatherization training and technical assistance.
  • Building Science certification(s) i.e. BPI Building Analyst, BPI Building Envelope Specialist, BPI Home Energy Professional, BPI Quality Control Inspector.
  • Experience providing technical training presentations to diverse audiences. 

Physical Requirements

Requires occasional moving of articles such as boxes, accounting records, laptop computer, and portable printer.
