Community Energy Ambassadors

Engaging Minnesotans to support clean energy projects within their communities.

Community Energy Ambassadors advance clean energy projects within their communities.

As a Community Energy Ambassador you gain access to the knowledge and skills needed to help others meaningfully participate in the clean energy transition. You support communities in their efforts to start clean energy projects with relevant resources and connections. As community members engage in energy decision making, their voices are well-informed and centered in the priorities of their community.

Community Energy Ambassador Paths

Group studying

Cohort training

Cohort members will meet virtually and in person. Their training will be shaped based on their community values and needs, which will further develop the Community Energy Ambassador program.

Self-directed training

Online training allows you to explore the program on your timeline and according to your interests. To complete the training you'll submit a project idea that will support community-led clean energy efforts.

Cohort Training

We will announce the community-based organizations selected to participate in and inform this first cohort in Summer 2024. We'll share their training journey through stories of what we're learning. We plan to evolve this idea over time, based on what we learn in this first experience.

Self-Directed Training

We want Community Energy Ambassadors to be well-versed in all areas of energy efficiency and renewable energy. You don't have to be an expert, you just need to be curious and open to learning.

CEA bannerAmbassadors on the self-directed training path will complete a series of brief webinars and recordings about different aspects of clean energy — home energy efficiency, heat pumps, solar energy, and more. Anyone can join in the training, there's no pressure to complete the series.

If you complete the series and wish to become a CERTified Community Energy Ambassador, you'll propose a project idea to CERTs staff that will allow you to dive deeper into a clean energy topic and a strategy for engaging community.

Upon completion of the project, you'll officially be a CERTified Community Energy Ambassador and ready for engagement and education opportunities within different communities across Minnesota. We also promise some cool swag!

We can't wait to share the Community Energy Ambassador projects and hopefully inspire more people to explore clean energy solutions!

Engagement Resources

We provide Community Energy Ambassadors with resources and tools that will help communities understand how clean energy can be a solution to challenges they face.

CEA bannerFrom handouts to videos, we work with clean energy experts to provide accurate and relevant resources for you to learn from and share. You don't have to be a CERTified Community Energy Ambassador to access these tools. They're available for everyone.

CERTified Community Energy Ambassadors will be encouraged to log their engagement efforts, as well as their continued learning experiences in order to stay active in the program. We'll offer tools you can use to track this and fun incentives to keep you engaged.

We want to know how you're using these tools and who you're engaging with across Minnesota. You can share your engagement efforts, request new resources, and help us fill in the gaps so all communities have access to clean energy information.
