Solar photovoltaic (PV) systems are springing up all across the state, with Minnesota poised to go from roughly 35 MW of installed capacity to upwards of 400 MW by the end of 2016. Whoa! With all that excitement, sometimes the world of solar thermal is woefully overlooked.

USDA Rural Development State Director Colleen Landkamer announced this month that USDA is awarding five grants to help Minnesota rural small businesses and agricultural producers reduce energy usage and costs in their operations. Funding comes from the Rural Energy for American Program (REAP) and will go towards energy efficiency improvements and/or renewable energy systems.
